Do’s

1. Trim the stems: Cut 1-2 inches off the stems at a 45-degree angle before placing them in water. This helps with water absorption.
2. Use fresh water: Change the water every 1-2 days to keep it clean and fresh.
3. Add flower food: Mix in flower food with water to nourish your flowers and extend their life.
4. Keep them cool: Place the flowers in a cool, shaded spot away from direct sunlight, heat, and drafts.
5. Remove wilted petals: Gently pluck off any petals that begin to wilt to keep the bouquet looking fresh.
6. Check water levels: Ensure the vase has enough water to keep the flowers hydrated, especially for sunflowers, which drink a lot.

Don’ts

1. Don’t place flowers near ripening fruit: The ethylene gas from fruit can cause flowers to wilt faster.
2. Don’t leave them in direct sunlight: Roses, sunflowers, and gerberas will wilt quickly in direct sunlight or near heating vents.
3. Don’t overcrowd the vase: Give the stems enough space to breathe. Overcrowding can restrict water flow to the flowers.
4. Don’t use dirty vases: Always clean the vase before placing new flowers to avoid bacteria growth that shortens the life of your bouquet.
5. Don’t forget to re-trim the stems: Every few days, re-trim the stems to ensure optimal water absorption.
